Dr. William Tucker is the assistant principal of East Hancock Elementary after serving as the assistant principal of Hancock North Central Elementary for three years. He earned a BA in English at Concordia University, Irvine and then moved to England where he earned a MA in English at University College London and a Ph.D. in English at Royal Holloway, University of London. He moved to Mississippi in 2016 and went on to earn a MA in Teaching and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.
Dr. Tucker began his teaching career working as an interventionist in primary and secondary state schools in London and Essex. He then joined the Mississippi Teacher Corps where he spent two years teaching English II and coaching track and field at Meridian High School before joining Hancock High School as an English teacher for four years. He was recognized as the Certified Employee of the Year at Hancock High School in 2021.
He lives in Ocean Springs with his wife Maia, his son Henry, and his cat Penny.
