Architectural Design and Drafting
Architectural Design and Drafting I and II Two Year Program: ADD I is a comprehensive introduction to mechanical technical drawing. It is intended to give the student a solid grasp of basic techniques in Engineering graphics. Students will utilize essential drafting equipment and AutoCAD software to produce workable drawings and learn how to create 3D geometry suitable for 3D printing. ADDII prepares students for careers in architecture and related industries and advance study in Architecture programs. Participants use AutoCAD and Revit to design and draw floor plans, elevations, foundations, and sections. Students in year 2 will have an opportunity to earn an Autodesk Certified User national certification. Dual enrollment coursework is available.

Auto Service
Automotive Service I and II (Open only to juniors and seniors) Two year Program: Students learn an overview of the auto service industry. Students will be prepared for continuing education or employment upon successful completion of coursework. Topics and skills taught include but are not limited to engine and transmission repair, an introduction to electrical/electronic information, shop safety, diagnostics, and customer service. Students in year 2 will have an opportunity to earn an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) national certification.
Culinary Arts
Culinary Arts I and II Two Year Program: Students gain real-world, hands-on practice of culinary foundations and food preparation, safety, and sanitation. mastery of the competencies listed in this unit will prepare the students to become ServSafe Food Safety certified. While they participate in the on-the-job training, students will use skills related to management and business concepts, customer communication, and customer service. Students in year 2 will have an opportunity to earn an a ServSafe national certification.


Early Childhood
Early Childhood I and II Two year Program: Students are prepared for further education or a career in the field of early childhood education. Topics covered focus on child development, health, safety, and providing quality care focusing on ages 3 through 5 years. Students gain hands-on childcare experience at our Hawks Nest. Dual enrollment coursework is available.
Educator Preparation
Educator Preparation I and II (Honors Program) Two Year Program: Students gain foundation competencies related to students as learners, planning and assessing teaching, teaching strategies, and communication skills. Students receive hands-on field experiences and coursework relevant to pursuing a career in the field of K-12 education. Dual enrollment coursework is available.

Engineering
Engineering I and II (Honors Program) Two Year Program: The course teaches students the history of engineering and the careers associated with the field. The students will learn the foundations and fundamentals of engineering and materials, as well as the engineering design process and the steps one follows for successful design planning. Additionally, students are introduced to the advanced concepts of 3-D sketching and modeling with CAD software. The course introduces students to the field of robotics in engineering. It also focuses on several fields of engineering specialization. This comprehensive course also focuses on the following four systems: electrical, fluid, mechanical , and thermal. It introduces students to flexible manufacturing systems, or how robotics and drafting work together to create products. Students in year 2 will have an opportunity to earn an a Solidworks national certification.

Health Sciences
Health Sciences CORE and Healthcare and Clinical Services (Honors program open to only juniors and seniors) Two Year Program: Students are introduced to theory and practical applications of tasks related to employment in the field of health science. Students will cover topics such as safety in the workplace, infection control, health care systems, and the vital organs of the human body. The course offers insight into careers in health care as well as educational requirements and the professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities involved. Students will learn topics such as human growth and development, health informatics, information technology, and therapeutic and rehabilitative services. Other topics include medical and emergency services, mental health, and pharmacological and nursing services. Dual enrollment coursework is available.


Hydrography
NEW! Hydrography I and II Two Year Program: Hydrography is the science that measures and maps the seafloor using sonar or lasers mounted to ships, drones, and sometimes airplanes. Hydrographic surveys are used for creating navigational charts, geological maps, biological inventories, marine archeology, search and rescue, and many other purposes. South Mississippi has many companies, government agencies, and research institutions that are leaders in hydrographic science. this career path has a starting salary of $55,000-$75,000 with an upward salary range of $168,000 in industry according to job postings on Indeed.com and other career sites!

Law and Public Safety
Law and Public Safety I and II Two Year Program: The course focuses on the history of law and legal systems in the United States. Students will learn the importance of personal health and safety in the field associated with law and public safety. They will be introduced to the emergency services found in local communities. Additionally, students will focus on corrections in the state of Mississippi, studying specifically how jails and prisons function. The course offers students the opportunity to examine all areas of the military and the professions associated with each. Students will learn about emergency management and workplace skills and will have meaningful, relevant job-shadowing experiences with professionals.

Precision Machining
Precision Machining I and II Two Year Program: This course includes orientation, leadership, basic safety, math, measuring tools, lathe theory and operation milling, machine theory and operation and grinding operations. This course includes advanced precision machining techniques in lathing, vertical milling, and computer numerical control (CNC). Students in year 2 will have an opportunity to earn an a National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) national certification. Dual enrollment coursework is available.
Unmanned Aircraft Systems
Unmanned Aircraft Systems I and II Two Year Program: This course prepares students for a career in UAS or further education in the applied technology fields surrounding UAS. In Year 1, students will work to obtain their Part 107 Certified Unmanned Pilot's License through the FAA and become comfortable piloting, building, and servicing a variety of drones. The Year 2 course of UAS will have students apply their learning in a variety of fields including law enforcement, agriculture, real estate, technology, etc. As a capstone project for the course, students will building their own drones, pilot a mission of their choice, process the data obtained, and present it in a professional manner.


Welding
Introduction to Welding and Advanced Welding Two Year Program: This course focuses on the NCCER Learning Series Core and SMAW. Students will leave the class with a firm foundation of knowledge in the areas of employability skills, safety, and basic tool knowledge. Also, students will learn Oxyfuel Cutting fundamentals. Students will cover proper equipment setup, safety measures, and correct welding techniques. This course focuses on specialized welding symbols used in blueprints, drawings, PAC, CAC, and advanced techniques used in SMAW. Additionally, this course will offer students the opportunity to examine GMAW and FCAW. Dual enrollment coursework is available.
