School Bus Safety Week
🚌 Hancock County School District Observes National School Bus Safety Week

October 21–25, 2025 — This week, Hancock County School District proudly joins school districts across the country in recognizing National School Bus Safety Week, a time to highlight the importance of safe student transportation and promote best practices for riding and driving around school buses.

Honoring Our Commitment to Student Safety

With more than 2,000 students riding buses daily, school bus safety is a top priority in Hancock County. Throughout the week, we’ve shared daily tips with families and staff to raise awareness about how small actions—like waiting 10 feet from the curb or making eye contact with the driver before crossing the street—can make a big difference in protecting our students.

Emergency Evacuation Drills Held Across the District

As part of our efforts, bus evacuation drills have been conducted at each campus to ensure students and drivers are prepared in the event of an emergency. These drills help students practice how to exit the bus safely and calmly, reinforcing our commitment to protecting every child—every ride.

Our Top 3 Safety Reminders
  • Be Safe: Sit in your assigned seat, keep arms and legs inside the bus, and stay seated at all times.

  • Be Responsible: Arrive at the bus stop early and wait at a safe distance from the curb.

  • Be Respectful: Use appropriate behavior and never distract the driver.

Thank You to Our Transportation Team

We are grateful to our dedicated bus drivers and transportation staff who serve as the first and last connection to school for many students each day. Their commitment, patience, and vigilance help us live our mission: We are Hancock, and we are dedicated to graduating, motivating, and celebrating all.
