1-Hour Early Release Wednesdays Continue for 2026–2027

Good afternoon, H Nation!

We are excited to officially share that Hancock County School District will continue our 1-hour early release Wednesdays during the 2026–2027 school year! This dedicated time has allowed staffulty across the district to collaborate, participate in professional development, analyze student data, strengthen instruction, and grow together through PLCs. It has also supported major district initiatives, including our ELA HQIM implementation this year and the upcoming adoption of HQIM in math next year.

As we evaluated this structure moving forward, more than 73% of staff survey respondents supported continuing the 1-hour early release Wednesdays because of the positive impact this time has had on collaboration and professional growth.
