She blends strong instructional design with creativity, designing lessons that challenge students while keeping them engaged through inquiry-based learning, Whole Brain Teaching, and meaningful STEM experiences. Her students explore moon phases, density investigations, mixtures and solutions, and even outdoor garden learning—experiences that help them see themselves as true scientists and problem-solvers.
Heather is intentional and data-driven, using assessments to guide small groups, differentiate instruction, and support every learner. Her efforts make a powerful difference for students who begin the year below grade level and for English Learners who need extra support. Under her guidance, many students experience tremendous growth and finish the year confident and successful.
Outside the classroom, Heather is a leader at West Hancock Elementary. She sponsors Junior Beta Club, supports school events, collaborates on instructional practices, and helps lead the Science Fair and Health Team. She also brings incredible opportunities to students by securing grants through DonorsChoose, MPE, and MDE—providing STEM materials, garden resources, and tools that bring learning to life.
