🚌 Day 5 – School Bus Safety Week Wrap-Up!
As we close out the week, we’re reminding families of the Top 3 Critical Rules every student should follow for a safe ride to and from school:

🚏 At the Stop:
Wait at least 10 feet from the curb and always arrive early—never run for the bus.
🪑 On the Bus:
Stay seated and quiet. Keep aisles clear of backpacks and other items to prevent trips or falls.
🚸 Crossing the Street:
Walk in front of the bus (5 big steps) and make eye contact with the driver before crossing.
✅ Simple steps = safer rides for everyone.
Thank you for partnering with us to protect our students and drivers every day!

School Bus Safety Check

🚌 Day 4 of National School Bus Safety Week

This week, students across Hancock County School District participated in school bus emergency evacuation drills to help them stay calm, confident, and prepared in case of an emergency. These drills teach students how to exit the bus safely, follow the driver’s instructions, and understand what to do if something unexpected happens while riding.

🚌 Day 3 of National School Bus Safety Week
Let’s keep safety a priority on every ride! Whether you're a student or a parent, these top 3 rules help make sure everyone gets to school and back safely:

✅ Be Safe: Sit in your assigned seat, facing forward, and keep your arms and legs inside the bus.
✅ Be Responsible: Arrive early and wait safely for the bus to come to a complete stop.
✅ Be Respectful: Use appropriate behavior—no yelling, fighting, or distracting the driver.

Ride Safe Rules and Expectations for the School Bus
🚌 It’s Day 2 of National School Bus Safety Week!
School buses are one of the safest ways for students to travel—but most injuries happen when getting on or off the bus.

Here are a few safety tips to help keep our students safe:
✔️ Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching.
✔️ Keep a safe distance and stay visible to the driver.
✔️ After exiting, walk ten giant steps away from the bus.
✔️ Be alert to traffic—drivers don’t always follow the rules.

School Bus Safety Tips
🚍 It’s National School Bus Safety Week!
This week, we’re focusing on how we can all help protect students as they travel to and from school. Today’s reminder: always stop for school buses—it’s the law.

The “Danger Zone” around a school bus is real. Most bus-related injuries happen not on the bus, but when students are approaching or leaving it. That’s why flashing red lights and extended stop-arms aren’t suggestions—they’re signals to stop, stay alert, and protect our kids.

Let’s work together to make every bus stop a safe stop.
