👶 How old does my child need to be?
Your child must be 4 years old before September 1.

📝 How do we apply?
Complete the interest form using the link on the Hancock County School District Website. Look for the blue button on the far right labeled “Pre-K Interest Form.”

✅ How will I know if my child qualifies?
After you complete the form, a Family Advocate will contact you to schedule an intake appointment. They will review your paperwork and let you know if your child qualifies.

📍 Where are the Pre-K classrooms located?
2 classrooms at West Hancock Elementary
1 classroom at Hancock North Central Elementary
1 classroom at South Hancock Elementary
✨ These are the designated Pre-K sites for the district. Students are not required to live in that school’s zone to enroll in its Pre-K class. As long as your family resides within Hancock County School District, your child may attend one of these locations.
⏰ Classes follow the school district’s calendar and operating hours.

🚌 Will transportation be provided?
No, transportation will not be offered at this time.

Amanda Pidgeon is entering her 19th year at Hancock High School, where she leads as the head of the English department. She teaches a range of advanced courses, including AP English Literature, AP English Language, AP Seminar, AP Research, and English IV. In addition to her work in the classroom, Amanda plays a key role in campus life as the Beta Club sponsor, Renaissance Crew Leadership advisor, and senior class head sponsor.

🎓 Meet Mary Helen Daniels
2nd Grade Teacher, South Hancock Elementary
Staff Advisory Council Member | 2025–2026

Mary Helen Daniels began her career in education in 2019, working in intervention with kindergarten and first-grade students in the Poplarville School District. She joined Hancock County School District in 2021 and earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from William Carey University in 2023. The 2025–2026 school year marks her second year as a certified teacher.

Mary Helen is married to Josh Daniels, and together they have three children. Hannah (20) and Noah (18) are both HHS graduates and current students at Pearl River Community College, while their youngest, Sarah (15), is a freshman at Hancock High School.

Outside the classroom, Mary Helen enjoys music, painting, and decorating. She plays piano and leads the praise band at her church, Refuge.
